Disgraced comic legend Bill Cosby tried to get his sexual assault conviction overturned in the appellate court, but his request was denied.
According to TMZ, the appellate court ruled that Cosby had a uniquely identifiable “sexual assault playbook” that was clearly and irrefutably established during his trial.
“The Cosby Show” star is currently serving three to 10 years in a Pennsylvania prison outside Philadelphia after a jury believed he drugged and raped former Temple University employee Andrea Constand.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Cosby, 82, was told that his efforts to reverse the conviction would be denied due to his modus operandi when dealing with his alleged victims. They said prosecutors proved Cosby would deliberately select women who were much younger than him. He would then invite each woman to his home or hotel room on the premise that he would help them with their entertainment aspirations.
After gaining their trust, he would slip drugs into their drinks to render them incapacitated and then proceed to sexually assault the women.
The court, TMZ reported, ruled that prosecutors did not engage in any discernable misconduct that would warrant an overturned conviction or new trial. They also rejected Cosby’s stance that the Pennsylvania district attorney told Cosby that he would not prosecute him a few years back.
