Young media correspondent Dai Time proves age is nothing but a number

What does it take to be iconic? In your estimation, who has achieved that status?

To me, being iconic means to continue to follow your dreams no matter the setbacks, to be an inspiration to both adults and the youth and to overall make a difference, whether it’s a difference at home, in your community or even globally. Personally, I think Oprah Winfrey has accomplished that status. Oprah is an everyday inspiration for youth and adults. She’s had her own talk show, is an amazing actress, she is always giving back, and we’ve seen the way she’s paved [for] us. Oprah is a living example of an iconic person.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

I would change how we use all social media platforms. Cyberbullying is one of the most common forms of bullying, and it has taken the lives of many youth this year alone. Over half of [all] adolescents and teens have been bullied online, and about the same number have engaged in cyberbullying. Cyberbullies use their social media platforms in harsh ways, threatening the lives of others, and I feel if everyone uses social media as a way to express their feelings and promote their brands, cyberbullying wouldn’t be as big nor impact so many people.
