Tech entrepreneur Anthara Patrice creates beauty appointment app

How can we break down barriers to access capital for Black-owned tech startups?

I want to impact the culture by being the face of what a multi-faceted Black tech founder can be. I’ve been doing this by expressing my creativity in my hair color and using my past corporate career skills to make my app happen. I believe we can continue to be our creative and authentic selves to make an impact on every industry and our culture. The technology of my app will impact the culture by helping women and men grow and maintain a successful beauty brand.

What advice would you give an entrepreneur interested in tech without a science background?

I would advise them to research and become as technical as they can to be able to speak to their product’s benefits, along with being able to educate new partners or end-users.
