Comedian Teddy Ray keeping viewers in stitches

We had to relearn ourselves. Whenever we get knocked down from anything, we have to relearn ourselves, reevaluate, bring it back to the drawing board, send it to God. Get closer to God even though you talk to him every day, you should get closer. The n—- ain’t gone bite you.

What did God tell you?

The same thing Finding Dory gone tell you, God gone tell you. “Just keep swimming …”

I’m not going to sit up here and act like I’ve just been the richest n—- my whole career. I got [$500 a week] to shoot the whole first season of “Roast Me.” We shot six episodes in a day.

Did it ever increase?

That’s why I was no longer a part of certain things. I was the type of person back then to give a little, try to get a lot and I realized that ain’t really our business. You have to keep doing what you have to do until you can leverage really well and negotiate.

Did you ever regret focusing on the art of comedy before the business side?

Nah, because it wouldn’t be the same right now. Everything happens for a reason. It was hard as hell being famous [and] still on the bus … I don’t regret it because I needed to learn that for some reason.
