“Black Ink Crew: Chicago” is back for their seventh season on VH1. This season comes fresh out of the pandemic into a new normal and finds the cast with its fair share of challenges.

Everyone’s issue is unique and offers up a slice of real life for the public to consume. Charmaine Bey’s father recently succumbed to his battle with cancer and this season starts off with her being made aware of her father’s illness not too long after her mother died. However, she still finds herself in a good place with her loving husband Neak, her daughter and the new bundle of joy they have on the way.

Phor moved to Dallas to pursue his music. He met Nina Austin and they now have a child together and are working out the process of being parents. During the pandemic, Don became a professional bodybuilder and won a few competitions. He had a health scare and seems to be on his way to recovery.

Ryan Henry found himself in a scandal, where he admitted to sleeping with his ex-best friend’s girlfriend. He didn’t shy away from the deed and is currently in the process of healing. At one point during the premiere, Ryan shared a moment from his therapy session where he is trying to decide if he should meet up with his ex-best friend Anthony, to explain himself.

Rolling out asked Henry why he thought it was important to share his therapy session with the world.

“We have 100 things against us before we walk out the door as Black men: relationships, society, police. I wanted to show that and express that because so many people go through the same thing. Some of us are going through things right now. It needed to be shared and hopefully, someone can use that as a stepping stone to take their next step toward healing.” said Henry.

The AMC was packed with fans excited to see the cast up close and personal. Rolling out asked supporter Ketty Charles what she thought of the premier.

“I thought it was phenomenal. I was really interested to see how they came back from the pandemic. I was especially moved by Charmaine’s story. Like she said in the last premier they featured her mother. For this one to feature her father you could see and feel the emotions there and see that she has the support of the rest of the members of the Black Ink Crew,” Charles shared.

The cast truly does have a family vibe and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds. Stay tuned.
