The Legacy Tour featuring Tank, Guy, Keith Sweat and New Edition stopped in Chicago on March 23, 2023. The United Center was full of fans excited about whomever they came to see hit the stage. Tank set the mood with his brand of sexy R&B. Guy was next up as they raised the energy up a notch performing songs from their albums Future and Guy. Teddy Riley did a few of his productions and ended his set with lyrics introducing Keith Sweat. Keith Sweat commanded the stage as he ran though his catalog of hits, and Teddy Riley joined him toward the end of his set to perform a few songs from the New Jack Swing era.

Nostalgia was running deep by the time Keith Sweat left the stage and when the main act, New Edition, came on stage, Generation X went wild. The fact that New Edition has been around for 40 years speaks volumes. It is a longevity many groups are not able to sustain.

New Edition traveled through four decades of hits. Bobby Brown, who was not resent for every choreographed routine, made up for it with his powerful voice and his stage presence.

At one point during the show, Johnny Gill asked for the audience to lift up their band mate and brother Ralph Tresvant in prayer because his father was currently making his transition. It was a moment filled with emotion as each member embraced Ralph.

The Legacy Tour was made for Generation X. Every performance was legendary. New Edition’s level of professionalism is unmatched and their songs are timeless. If you have an opportunity to experience this tour, you will not be disappointed.
