It’s never too late for revenge right? Well that was the case last night at the Oscars. Halle Berry and Adrien Brody reenacted their startling kiss from the 2003 Academy Awards on the red carpet before the 2025 Oscars.
Berry scurried up to Brody and gave her fellow Oscar winner a hilarious kiss on the Red Carpet just hours before the Oscars started. The intimate encounter was captured on camera and quickly went viral. As everyone around them laughed and cheered, Brody happily accepted the kiss and they embraced the recreated moment. Brody’s partner was also right there oddly enough and by now we all know Halle Berry’s “husband” has seen the kiss.
Berry told Extra on the red carpet that she has been waiting for this chance to exact revenge for “21 years: I’ve been waiting to get him on a red carpet and slap one on.” In 2003, just after winning the Oscar for best leading actor for his role in The Pianist, Brody whirled around and shockingly kissed Berry, who had given him the trophy as his presenter. He said to her at the moment, “I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag.” The only reason she went in for the kiss, according to Berry, was because Georgina Chapman, Brody’s girlfriend, “was fine” with her doing it. Which I don’t know how she would have known that because at least on camera there was no communication between the two before the kiss was planted.
The Internet absolutely blew up once the kiss made it to social media. The responses ranged all the way from hilarious to some online questioning the state of both of their relationships. Berry is almost a married woman (actually, she’s not married to Van Hunt — yet) and Brody’s girlfriend was right there. One user even hilarious claimed “actors have some strong spouses” and I wholeheartedly agree. My wife kissing someone else on one of Hollywood’s biggest nights might have sent me over the ledge, but maybe this is something that is allowed in Halle’s relationship. If not allowed, it was something she knew she could get away with. Regardless of the feelings behind the kiss, it did make for a hilarious Oscar moment that will be talked about for a long time.
