Tammy Edwards
VP, Community Development at Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City

What inspires you to show up at work every day?
I’m inspired by work that provides me the ability to assist underserved consumers and small business owners with their dreams. My team researches and addresses the economic and community development issues that impact underserved communities. The needs are great but so are the rewards. The best reward is knowing we’re making a difference.

How did you determine your career path?
I knew I wanted to be a businesswoman since I was a child. Instead of focusing on a particular aspect of business, I pursued a variety of opportunities. My strong work ethic, passion for excellence and solid leadership skills have allowed me to have very rewarding opportunities in diverse fields.

Describe goal-setting methods you use and how you evaluate your success?
The process starts with a clear understanding of what I want to accomplish — the plan. I then develop specific, measureable and time bound goals to keep me on track. Since each goal has a target and is reviewed on a regular basis, it’s clear when success is achieved.
