Twitter responds to users’ outrage over reported changes

The Twittersphere exploded late Friday and into Saturday morning with talk of Twitter making some major changes that didn’t seem to sit too well with the majority of its users.

Word quickly spread that as early as next week, Twitter planned to begin using an algorithm that would alter people’s timelines and show the most popular tweets first instead of the normal chronological order that had been the site’s standard since inception. Of course, one of the most beloved aspects of Twitter is the real time method in which tweets are shown, which allows users to keep pace with breaking news stories and live events as they happen.

It didn’t take long for the #RIPTwitter hashtag to trend with people sharing their gripes about the anticipated changes, but thankfully Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey chimed in to assure everyone that it was all much ado about nothing.

From the reaction of users around the world, it looks like the brass at Twitter just dodged a major bullet with the speculated upon changes.
