The Jamar Lockhart exhibit “Scope” is currently on display in the Galleria at the Detroit Public Library Main Library (5201 Woodward). The exhibit runs until July 30, 2024, and you can view the exhibit during open library hours.

About the Artist
Jamar Lockhart was born and raised in Detroit, where his passion and interest in art, color and culture was fostered by his late father. He began to explore different mediums and forms of art through courses in painting, drawing, and figural studies at Oakland University. After graduation, Jamar began teaching art at Detroit Enterprise Academy. He loved working with students, and teaching allowed him to share with students the same knowledge and interest he received from his teachers. Jamar has helped to grow some awesomely talented art students.
Today, Jamar has produced more than 250 pieces of works of art for clients and collectors including: Visa Inc., local law firms George Law in Royal Oak and The Cochran Firm in Detroit, The Freelon at Sugar Hill Apartment Complex in Detroit, Norwest Gallery of Art, and many others. Additionally, Jamar has participated and sold pieces in numerous exhibits. His first solo exhibition, “In Living Color” took place in 2021 at the Norwest Gallery of Art in Detroit. He is a member of the Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club, which is a collective of local artists, art collectors and art enthusiast.
