The Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society will present an exhibition byย Betye Saar, a key figure in the Black Arts Movement of the 1970s. Inspired by the transformative memory of Saarโs visit to the African collections of Chicagoโs Field Museum in the mid-1970s, this exhibition will hinge on the artistโs experiments with โwearableโ art, bringing into focus her gradual shift from working in costume design toward the instantly recognizable collage aesthetic she is justly feted for to this day.
