Help Me Help You Community Forum
Greetings Leaders,
I am Rev. Dr. Sande Bailey-Gwinn, founder of Foundations for Living (FFL), and through my organization, we are seeking to empower leaders such as yourself, who selflessly give of themselves and their resources through a community forum entitled, “Help Me Help You.”
The Help Me Help You Community Forum involves two cornerstone Foundations for Living projects, customized to educate community influencers just like you. This forum requires a certain commitment to change in the Community and we want to help you continue to be the change that our community needs.
In 2023, FFL produced the film documentary Black Church, Black Preacher, Black Woman, which followed myself, the FFL Director, as I forged partnerships and relationships across Northeast Georgia in my bid to raise awareness on AIDS/HIV in the rural Black South. Also in 2023, FFL published the “Help Me Help You” Community Resource Book, which is an interactive workbook designed to train faith leaders/community leaders in messaging and support strategies for those impacted by racialized health disparities. Both instruments will be utilized in providing this programming.
We hope to empower and educate community leaders on the importance of loving beyond their personal beliefs, fighting stigmas, and inspiring, educating, and transforming Black and Brown communities in the Deep South. FFL has designed a unique outreach model for its “Help Me Help You” Community Forum Tour. The panel discussion will be led by 1.) Mental Health, HIV/AIDS, Substance Use Disorder, and Reentry After Incarceration experts, 2.) a private screening of the documentary Black Church, Black Preacher, Black Woman and discussion session, 3) small-group facilitated training sessions using the Help Me, Help You Community Resource Book, 4.)whole-group discussions, and 5) an evaluation.

Our baseline scripture comes from Proverbs 27:17 which states, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (NIV). None of us knows it all but collectively we can all come together and impact the church and community in such a way that the change is evident. We look forward to seeing you there.
