HISTORICALLY BLACK PHRASES LIVE! is a live game show experience, based on the recently released book, Historically Black Phrases: From ‘I Ain’t One Of Your Lil’ Friends’ to ‘Who All Gon’ Be There?’. Hosted by co-authors (and podcasters and journalists!) jarrett hill and Tre’vell Anderson, HBP Live! is the game show you didn’t know you needed! Each show features three notable contestants competing in 3 rounds of gameplay rooted in trivia about Black culture. The highest-scoring contestant advances to a final round in which they’re tested on all things Boo Boo The Fool — and other Historically Black Phrases! Lucky audience members get a chance to play for prizes, too!
HBP Live! is going on tour for Black History Month 2024! For our stop in Washington, D.C — electrified by Nissan — the DC Public Library will be hosting us at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Come join us for a night of uproarious, family-friendly fun, all while celebrating and uplifiting the cultural contributions of the Black community.
Attendance for HBP Live! in DC is FREE with RSVP. Copies of Historically Black Phrases: From ‘I Ain’t One Of Your Lil’ Friends’ to ‘Who All Gon’ Be There?’ will be available for purchase onsite. The author-hosts will be signing books immediately after the event.
