Join Sidewalk Detroit as it celebrates the inaugural Eco-Artist-in-Residence Halima Cassell’s up-cycled installation at Eliza Howell Park. The community-built sculpture was created with materials rescued from the Rouge River, raising awareness about river health.
The opening celebration includes an artist talk with moderator Antonio Cosme, a dynamic grassroots artist, organizer, educator and Friends of Rouge Park program manager. In addition to the artist talk, there will be art activities such as seed starting in egg cartons (please bring empty egg cartons if you are able!), live music from King Sophia and food and beverages courtesy of local favorite, Brightmoor Family Grille. Enjoy meat and vegetarian options of Jamaican patties, pasta salad, plantains and cookies!
