The Detroit Black Chamber of Commerce Inc introduced their new organization, Young Entrepreneurs Society, to the public by holding their first summit “Opportunity Black” Young Black Entrepreneurship Summit at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Detroit Branch. YES is an assembly of Detroit’s most talented and prestigious professionals who understand that young Black entrepreneurs who are running businesses or plan on launching a business need help to reach their full potential.


“We have accepted the call to connect our young Black leaders, 45 years-old and under, with powerful professional access to the billion dollar Detroit opportunity. YES is the circle creating opportunities for young black professionals and business owners in the city of Detroit.” –YES


Pam Rodgers of Rodgers Chevrolet and Ken Harris, president and CEO of the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (the largest African American chamber of commerce in the country) graciously provided remarks to the crowd.

“With every success, there is opportunity, where there is weaknesses, there is growth opportunities, and where we are not achieving, there is always solution oriented processes. Always stay positive and never let negativity become a barrier for you. This is why entrepreneurship is for me,” said native Detroiter Harris.

Shawn Blanchard, CEO of Run This Town-Networking Out and Shawn Blanchard Productions was the host for the night. Blanchard is also a member of the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce and is a new member of YES. Blanchard had the pleasure of introducing a Q-and-A session with special guest Tatiana Grant of Infused PR & Events and Flash Deliveries and Rumia Ambrose-Burbank of VMS365 Inc.

Last year, Grant received a Leadership Award at the Sankofa Awards hosted by The Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce.

Rumia Ambrose-Burbank believes that joining organizations such as YES are very important in order for people to know who you are. “Visibility is huge. When people don’t see you, you’re not relevant. Be on the circuit,she said

On Thursday, Nov. 19, YES of The Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce will hold its third annual Sankofa Awards at Ignite Sushi Lounge inside the MGM Casino in downtown Detroit and following the awards, there will be a masquerade afterglow party. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.michiganblackchamber.com and with the purchase of a ticket, you’ll receive a membership to become a part of YES through October 2016. All Black entrepreneurs should attend this event and also join this prestigious organization. YES — they are committed to you!
