BET Responds to Rick Ross and Young Jeezy's Alleged Fight

Despite stereotypes about violence at hip-hop awards ceremonies, the BET Hip Hop Awards have remained relatively drama-free for the last few years. But, things were drastically different at the taping of this year’s ceremony when a fight allegedly broke out between members of Rick Ross and Young Jeezy’s camps. And as questions continue to rise, BET has now released a statement giving their side of the story.

As previously reported, the scuffle happened backstage in the Atlanta Civic Center on Sept. 29, where the awards show was being filmed. According to accounts, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy allegedly exchanged heated words with each other and their entourages were involved in a physical altercation.

Separate reports also claim that another scuffle occurred between 50 Cent’s G-Unit and Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group.

Worldstarhiphop.com also released a video showing MMG rapper Gunplay in a fight with an unidentified man, before he is pepper sprayed by police.

With so many different stories flying around, BET has now released a brief statement, lamenting the incident and apologizing to fans.

“BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of hip-hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place,” the statement read, not identifying any parties said to be involved in the incident. “BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”
