Mary J. Blige charity debt reduced

Escape To Total Rewards At Woldenberg Park, New Orleans

Back in May 2012, TD Bank filed a lawsuit stating that it had loaned the Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women $250,000 in June 2011. The foundation promised to return the funds by December 2011. Instead, the foundation has only paid a meager  $368.33.

TD Bank has approved that $200,000 be shaved off of the charitable foundation’s debt, leaving a balance of about $125,000 that will be paid in installments. The new agreement, according to TMZ, is that the Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women will pay $15,000 immediately followed by 12 payments of $9,166.

The foundation was also sued in 2012 by musicians who performed at a fundraising event in 2011 and have yet to be paid. Sadly, the lawsuits don’t stop there for Blige. The 42-year-old singer and her production company were hit with a lawsuit on December 9, 2012 by Vision Entertainment Worldwide after she pulled-out of a concert in Dallas, TX.

All the lawsuits came around the same time the IRS  hit the singer with a $3.4million tax bill in after being accused of avoiding her U.S. federal taxes for three consecutive years from 2009 to 2012.

Of course Mary J isn’t the only singer accused of not paying back their debts. Click here to see which other celebs have been sued for non-payments.
