“””I had heard about Tom Houck’s Civil Rights Tour from generational, long time residents in the Sweet Auburn Summerhill area. The previous comment about taking a tour with a friend is true. Tom, a friend of Martin Luther King, is informative and and tells interesting stories informing those of us new to the city of Atlanta’s roots in the Civil Rights Movement. Tom was a Freedom Fighter himself and tells his stories with humor and kindness. Accompanying him is a friend who sings the songs of the freedom fighters in amazing full voice. I am so glad to have had this opportunity. The bus is immaculate and there’s a quick lunch stop. Plan to take time before or afterwards to go inside the MLK Center , Ebenezer Baptist Church, and get a reservation to go inside the Kings’ Sweet Auburn home. Those are run separately by the Nat’l Park Service.”””
