Attorney Melissa El-Johnson’s career began in the City of Detroit Law Department during the Coleman A. Young administration, where she litigated and won serious personal injury and death cases in state and federal courts. Melissa transitioned from service with the City of Detroit to private practice as a civil rights litigator, primarily handling police misconduct and other personal injury cases. She has welcomed and mentored high school, college and law students to her law office, providing them with opportunities to work in a professional atmosphere, and to focus on and refine their career goals.
Melissa has hosted probate and estate planning presentations in metro Detroit for many years. Her passion is empowering people with knowledge of their legal rights and responsibilities to make sound legal decisions. Preparation, fairness and integrity are her priorities as a legal practitioner. Melissa’s current areas of practice include probate litigation, estate planning, probate law and real estate.
