The mission of the Old Red Museum is to inspire and educate people with the rich cultural, economic, political and social history of the Dallas County area, showcasing the many cultures that together have formed the Dallas of today. Every day, the Old Red Museum shares the community’s inspirational stories from multiple perspectives by providing access to some of its most important and iconic artifacts and historic images. Four chronological galleries are located in former courtrooms, which consist of more than 10,000 square feet. The museum exhibits present a comprehensive look at the county’s development and growth from pre-history to the present day. Six theaters, 41 touch-screen kiosks, and a hands-on Children’s Education Center are the interactive core of our permanent exhibit. We also support a temporary exhibit gallery that provides space for community partners to showcase their stories, highlights artifacts from our stored collection, and hosts traveling exhibits.
