Wesley Snipes’ Request for Bond Pending Appeal DeniedWesley Snipes’ Request for Bond Pending Appeal DeniedVeteran actor Wesley Snipes has been serving a three-year prison sentence for failure to file income taxes since January, and now it seems the actor may be stuck serving out his time after a motion he filed requesting bond was denied in court.

According to radaronline.com, Snipes filed the motion on January 28 in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, hoping to be released from prison while his petition for certiorari is pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Circuit Judges Edmonson, Marcus and Pryor also denied Snipes’ request for bond pending his appeal from the denial of his motion for a new trial.

Snipes’ lawyers filed the certiorari asking the U.S. Supreme Court to examine claims that he was wrongly tried and that prosecutors in the case should have met a higher standard of proof.

The actor’s prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institute of McKean stems from his 2008 convictions on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income taxes.

Last year, Snipes, who hadn’t been seen on the silver screen since 2004, seemed to be on the brink of a Hollywood comeback when he starred alongside actors Don Cheadle, Richard Gere and Ethan Hawke in the Antoine Fuqua film Brooklyn’s Finest.
