Hector 'Macho' Camacho dead at 50

Hector Camacho removed from life support

Just four days after being targeted and shot in the face, famed boxer Hector Camacho has been taken off life support. Relatives of Hector ‘Macho’ Camacho made the heart-wrenching decision Saturday to remove him from intensive care treatment. Camacho was 50-years-old.

As previously reported, Camacho was in the passenger seat of a motor vehicle when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire. Camacho was struck multiple times in the face and neck while the driver, 49 year-old Adrian Mojica Moreno, was killed. Authorities report that Mojica had nine small bags of cocaine in his pocket and a 10th bag was found open in the car. An investigation is currently ongoing.

Former featherweight champion Juan Laporte, a friend of Camacho’s since childhood, told the press this week that the boxer was often misunderstood. “He’s a good human being, a goodhearted person,” said Laporte. “A lot of people think of him as a cocky person but that was his motto , inside he was just a kid looking for something.”
