Winning a Grammy is undoubtedly an honor. It’s a prestigious award. But the Grammy committee has shown themselves to be fairly clueless when it comes to contemporary music. And it’s been that way for decades.
YouTube launched it’s very own awards show this weekend, and the show was as unconventional and off-kilter as much of the material found on the popular online media platform itself. Hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts, the show was both awkward and intriguing, with both hosts operating with no script and strange performances throughout. Spike Jonze sprearheaded the event and the visionary director also participated in some of the night’s performance productions.
