Apollo Nida comes clean on bank fraud, Phaedra Parks

Apollo Nida came clean this week during an interview with V-103 about his wire and bank fraud scheme as well as his marriage to Phaedra Parks.

The admitted fraudster, who is facing up to 30 years for stealing an estimated $2.3 million from various individuals, financial institutions and government agencies, recently appeared on the “Ryan Cameron Morning Show with Wanda Smith” and explained his actions to the hosts. Nida, who is friend of Cameron’s, didn’t exactly express remorse for his behavior but said that he’s ready to face the music.

“You know what – I did it,” said Phaedra Parks’ husband. “I said I did it. So now I will just pay the price.”

He also noted that his desire to keep up with his reality TV lifestyle led him to his life of crime.

“To be honest with you, people from the outside looking in, they can say many things. At the end of the day I feel like reality TV and things of that nature can really be pressure at some points.” […] “Apollo has never had a handout from day one,” he added. “Never. Never asked for nothing, never been given anything. Whatever she has, she has … if I feel like I gotta do what I gotta do, and there’s no other way, and the checks aren’t being distributed equally, you gotta do what you gotta do. You could sit there and say, go get a regular job…but at the end of the day, is that paycheck going to be equivalent to what’s coming in the household?”

As for his wife Phaedra Parks who he said he woke up to that morning, Nida noted that he’s “not astonished” by her behavior but believes she should be a supportive wife.

“We’re still married … I try not to be astonished by anything that goes on. I think Phaedra, in a perfect world, should be supportive as a wife should be … If she chooses to derail from the plan, then that’s what she chooses to do. Apollo is prepared for whatever happens in life. Whatever’s been thrown at me, I deal with it. I would like to say I would want her to stay around and do what a wife should do.”

He also touched briefly on Angela Stanton, the author who accused  him and Phaedra of being a part of car theft ring and alleges that they ultimately abandoned her when she got caught.

“I sat in a deposition with her [Angela Stanton’s] lawyers when they were going through the lawsuit. That was a ploy to get your book out there and you were being really vindictive.”
