Kandi, Todd Tucker and Mama Joyce appear on ‘The View’
Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker took their issues with Mama Joyce off of Bravo and onto the set of ABC’s “The View” Thursday. The reality TV couple tackled their issues with Joyce, who’s been relentlessly labeling her daughter Kandi’s fiance an “opportunist,” in front of Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Jerry O’Connell.
During last week’s episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” viewers heard a threatening voicemail Joyce left for Kandi’s friend Carmon, who she believes is sleeping with Tucker. Carmon then added that Joyce was planning to pay a man to spy on Tucker so that she could catch him cheating on Kandi.
On “The View” Mama Joyce broke down her issues with Tucker to the daytime hosts. Joyce noted that she was upset that Tucker, who works as a production company line producer, quit his job months after he began dating her daughter.
“Todd seems like a very nice person and when I met him he seemed like a very nice person,” said Joyce. “But I have a problem with after his first job, which was doing the Kim [Zoliciak] and Kroy [Biermann] wedding, he took like two months off.”
“Now, I come from a family of men that work,” she added. I had a problem with that ya know? And also, he said that he was using part of his savings and when you already to me, stepping up [with Kandi] I feel like you don’t need to use part of your savings.”
Whoopi Goldberg then interjected and told the reality star mom that she should allow her daughter to “make her own mistakes.” Interestingly enough Goldberg has firsthand experience with the subject considering that her daughter is the ex-girlfriend of Stevie J.
“You and I are minutes apart in terms of age…we don’t have time for this,” said Goldberg. “Let her make the mistake, if she’s gonna make the mistake. You gotta let her do it. You can’t do this for her. We listened kinda to our parents, but we had to make our own mistakes. She gotta do it.”
Todd then defended himself against Mama Joyce’s accusations and noted that he owns his own production company and is doing freelance work.
Fans who tuned in for the at times intense sit-down noted that Kandi was overwhelmed and brought to tears on the subject. They also blasted Mama Joyce for her usual round of meddling.
