It’s safe to say that Chrishon Lampley handles multitasking well. The entrepreneur, radio host, writer, and wine aficionado recently launched her own line of wines to much fanfare. Here, she tells ro how her brand came about, talks about her radio show, and tells us how she handles it all.
Tell us about your brand, Love Cork Screw?
I’ll start by telling you our motto: “There is no substitute for pleasure. The moments we share, the smiles we bequeath and the memories we make all deserve to be thoroughly enjoyed. Leave behind the traffic in your mind and open yourself to the possibilities of delight. The burden is over. Take it easy, listen, pour and sip. Indulgence knows no boundaries.” Love Cork Screw is essentially my life.
What’s the Love Cork Screw radio show about?
Love Cork Screw Radio is a broadcast program I host with one of my most favorite people and business partner Isaac Paul. If we were to simplify it, the show invites listeners into our world. Imagine being a fly on the wall in an extremely entertaining conversation between two friends about love and relationships. Isaac and I are very different, but our chemistry is unfathomable. Anyone who listens to us tearing into the nitty gritty of a topic will most certainly connect with one of our viewpoints. Whether it is my tendency to be a little more bold and gregarious, or Isaac’s tendency to be more philosophical and comical, we pretty much run the full gamut. We hit a myriad of topics — some more playful and slapstick and others that lean to being more serious and introspective. At the end of the day, it is about the lives of two very relatable and entertaining individuals who have an immense love for wine and having a good time.
When and where can we catch the Love Cork Screw radio program?
The best place to catch us and tune in consistently is on Sound Cloud. People that engage us on that channel can listen to our entire catalog of shows and hear them “On Demand” at their own leisure. Sound Cloud has a really sleek and easy to use app that integrates well with iPods, iPad, and android devices so that our fans can listen to the shows on the go. All they have to do is search the words “Love Cork Screw.”
What are The Tequila Tales?
The Premise is simple. A room full of attractive, educated, 30 to 40 somethings, drinking alcohol and engaging in the most fascinating, uproarious, and sometimes salacious discussion about their love encounters. The discussion is moderated by the master communicator Isaac Paul and co hosted by a licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Candice Norcott. It is totally not your typical panel discussion where people sit around and listen to the “experts” instruct you on how you should live your lives. Instead, a very open and interactive discussion is entertaining on multiple levels.
You recently unveiled your own line of wines. Tell us how you came up with the idea to do your own line?
It was so simple for me, being a wine enthusiast to start. Secondly having an array of friends always asking me what to drink or bring to a party and how to pair wine with food. So I thought, “Hey, they can just buy Love Cork Screw and always know they’re getting the best for a good price” My labels are catchy and fun. I have six varietals out now with something for everyone, which is a full-bodied Californian Cabernet Sauvignon to a light and sweet grapey Niagara. Names like “Head Over Heels” or “Hard Knock Life” are a couple of my fun whimsical labels.
How do you juggle all these things at once?
Honestly I don’t! I am still amazed at how much I have been able to accomplish considering how many things I have going on at this time. I think the secret lies in how passionate I am about my interests. Everything that people are being introduced to is nothing more than a significant piece of me. So when you say, “juggle these things,” I see it all as me living and sharing my life with people. So I guess my ability to maintain it comes from how natural this is to who I am. My radio show was not planned. Isaac and I were promoting our show and it was offered when they saw how comfortable he and I were on the mic. When you hear it, it is a “censored” version of the 2 to 3 hour conversations that we have multiple times a week. My line of wines is an extension of my ardent love for the varietal. The blog exists as an extension of my willingness to share my experiences with others around me. Therefore, everything resonates from who I am.
What accomplishment brings you the most pride?
The wine is MINE! It has been a long hard process. I’ve been in the game before but this time around, I am doing it my way, to quote Frank Sinatra.
Any favorite affirmations?
Sometimes when you’re ambitious, things can get tough. It’s all about endurance. One of my favorite quotes “If you’re going through hell, keep going” -Winston Churchill
What do you do to unwind?
Watch football with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, a great new restaurant, or a good action flick is heavenly.
Any advice or words of wisdom for aspiring professionals in your field?
Funny, I’m not exactly sure what my field is. Vintner? Radio host or just being me? I’ll say this: simply project as much good energy in life as you can and leave it up to the Universe to give back what it can. The Universe always comes through for me. Always.
What’s next for Chrishon?
For the near future, it’s all about the Love Cork Screw wine. We are currently involved in negotiations that can allow us to bring the brand more intimately into your living room. So stay tuned, folks!
