Alfonso Soriano and the New York Yankees did not travel back to the future in a DeLorean, but the Pinstripes did get a blast from the past in Chicago Cubs superstar in a trade to bring a big bat to their wimpy lineup.
The Yankees offense has not only been offensive and impotent for the past two months, but downright putrid. And Soriano, who has hit more homers in the past month than the Yankees’ team combined, he is seen as the anecdote to heal the ailing bats in the Yankees lineup.
Yankees fans applauded the move to acquire the services of the 37-year-old, a decade after trading him away.
Here’s what they had to say:
Corey Brock? No thank you. I WANT ALFONSO SORIANO BACK
