If
Atlanta had to elect a mayor to lead its accomplished music scene,
Jermaine Dupri would be the unanimous choice to govern the city. Dupri
showed why he’s the city’s lead musical official by hosting the 2007 So
So Def Summerfest. The four-day festival featured several parties, a
comedy night, a celebrity basketball game and a pool party. Notable
celebrity attendees included Chingy, Common, Fabolous, Jamal Tinsley,
Hot Dollar, Kanye West, Nelly, Larenz Tate, Tank, Too $hort, Josh Smith
and Bow Wow.
Dupri believes that this year’s event was the
best thus far. “I’ve always wanted to give Atlanta its own Essence
Festival,” he said. “We started out a few years back, and it has gotten
bigger each year. This entire weekend is to show that Atlanta knows how
to have a good time. We’re giving people the opportunity to party and
