scenic woods- the blonde bomb
R&B/Funk Singer
While Scenic Woods is on the verge of releasing her first solo album,
she isn’t a newcomer to the music industry. After signing with Erick
Sermon’s Def Squad label as a member of the group Tha Truth!, Woods
collaborated with artists such as RZA and Missy Elliot, and she also
performed as a background vocalist for Faith Evans. Now, with the
knowledge she obtained while being around such prominent recording
artists, Woods believes she’s prepared to take on the rigors and joys
of stardom. “The situation with Def Squad didn’t work out, but I met a
lot of people and I found out who I was as an artist,” says Woods. “I
was able to gain experience from being around successful people and I
learned a lot from just sitting around and seeing Faith [Evans] write.”
Woods recently introduced herself nationally as a solo artist
on “106 & Park’s” talent segment called “Wild-Out Wednesdays.” The
audience’s overwhelmingly positive response to her performance will
allow her to return in August for an encore. In the meantime, Woods
will continue to seek radio play for her first single, “In a Box.”
She’s also preparing for the release of her upcoming debut album, which
has yet to be titled.
“This is all a blessing, because I
never knew that singing would be my life,” she says. “If I put my mind
to something, I’m going to do it the best way that I know how.” – amir shaw
