Author, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People with Diabetes

Dr. Stephen Covey knows firsthand about the physical and emotional toll of diabetes – his wife suffers from type 2 diabetes. That’s why he didn’t hesitate when the idea to partner with the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) to develop the The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People with Diabetes booklet materialized. More than six months after the commission, Covey is AADE’s expert author on the subject. 

Covey’s well-known seven principles, habit No. 1: Be Proactive to habit No. 7: Sharpen the Saw, are universal and can be applied to all aspects of life. He offers, “People can start very small, make a promise and keep it . then make a larger promise and keep it. If they have a support group at home and are being affirmed, supported and encouraged, it motivates them to change their lifestyle to live better, lose weight, exercise and monitor their blood [sugar levels].” –yvette caslin
