myron butler & levi- stronger
EMI Gospel
From the outset, Myron Butler & Levi’s second album, Stronger, is a rollicking combo of bold arrangements and soaring gospel vocals. The title cut boasts heavy beats and stuttering horns along with squeaky synthesizer noises to give Bernie Worrell a run for his money. It’s an engaging bit of commercialism worth every dime that went into it. Much of the album’s remainder sounds more traditional, but the progressive approach shows up again every now and then. This is a musical triumph. –forrest green III
