On-Air Radio Personality, Hot 102.7 WHTD radio personality

Hot 102.7 WHTD on-air radio personality Spudd has committed to run 13.1 miles in this year’s Detroit Free Press Flagstar Marathon on Oct. 21 in an effort to raise $10,000 for Think Detroit PAL, which provides funds for after-school programs.

As a spirited advocate for youth, Spudd has always rallied to mentor and motivate inner- city youth to believe in themselves and follow their dreams. For this event, Radio One partnered with Think Detroit Pal to raise awareness about the dearth of after-school activities in the city. He cited the hours of 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. as being the peak times that children are recruited into gangs, engaging in sexual activity or falling into various other forms of delinquency. It was with this thought in mind that he decided to challenge himself to go the distance to make a difference and set an example.

“Kids need somewhere to go. Think Detroit PAL provides the resources and outlets that young people need to grow and become actively involved in their communities. To sustain these kinds of organizations, they need money! The Free Press Marathon is a great way to give back, while working on my own health goals at the same time,” he states. “If I can do it, then it can be done by anybody.” –janaya black
