In The Kingdom, a good friend means everything. FBI special agent
Ronald Fleury (Jamie Foxx) puts together a special team (Jennifer
Garner, Chris Cooper and Jason Bateman) for a mission inside Saudi
Arabia to capture a terrorist responsible for a vicious attack on
Americans. The agents are befuddled by the foreign culture they find
themselves in, until a native police captain helps them to deal with
the streets of Riyadh. Compelling writing gives the film’s events a
certain gravity, as the movie keeps you wondering what will happen
next. The depiction of mass murder and violence is tricky here and may
end too didactically for many. War on the silver screen is fantastic,
but it’s also looking more and more clichéd. – forrest green III
