Miramax Films
Writer-director brothers Joel and Ethan Coen tackle the fiction novel
of acclaimed American writer Cormac McCarthy in their 13th film. This
film’s events are set off when a hunter, Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin),
stumbles upon $2 million in cash, several corpses, and stash of heroin
in a pickup truck near the Rio Grande. The crooks behind this deal gone
bad send Anton Chirgurh (Javier Bardem) after Moss, and hit-man Carson
Wells (Woody Harrelson). Chigurh is an unnerving psychopath contolled
by Bardem. It’s a real testament to Harrelson’s talent that Bardem
doesn’t totally eclipse his charachter. No Country For Old Men isn’t a
witty comedy by the Coens; it’s a measured, violent drama that ranks as
one of the year’s best. –forrest green III
