VP of Community Relations, Target Having faithfully served as a vital member of the Target family since 1991, Laysha Ward fully understands the importance of fostering growth within the ranks of America’s future business leaders. After all, Ward herself exemplifies the success that can be bred with this type of mentoring strategy. Now as the vice president of community relations for Target, Ward oversees Target’s domestic and international grant making, sponsorships, cause marketing (partnerships to elevate awareness and raise funds for social issues), volunteerism and other civic activities. While Ward takes pride in her impressive rise up the corporate ranks, she also finds satisfaction in fostering the growth of other leaders, as evidenced by Target’s relationship with the Executive Leadership Council.
“Partnering with the Executive Leadership Council has been such an incredible experience,” she explains. “ELC’s mission is about developing really clear diversity strategies that can be articulated, executed, and improved upon in corporate America. Developing a diverse pipeline of talent that really brings people from the classroom to the boardroom is our mission, and Target is just incredibly pleased to be a part of it.”
Good corporate citizens like Ward in our community not only enhance our face within the corporate sector, but it also shows the value of giving back. Thanks to Ward, Target, and the entire Executive Leadership Council’s committment, the future of this country’s business world appears to be in very capable hands. – dewayne rogers
