Founder, Morgan Inc. Merle Staten had done it all before he found something that he enjoyed. He and his brother owned an auto service company where Staten still puts in work hours. He also owned a car rental agency, but he tired of the complicated process of keeping up with the cars he rented out, so he determined to find something better.
Staten received a degree in computer information systems from Florida A&M University, but after two internships he realized he didn’t fit into corporate America. His journey finally guided him to real estate where he found his passion in building homes. Going into one of Staten’s homes you automatically feel like it is your home. The elegant floor plans are designed to fit those aspiring to own their first home, or accomodate growing families.
“I am not a builder of subdivision [homes]. There is nothing wrong with that, that is just not the route that I would like to take. I am more interested in doing homes where the communities are established and mature, with mature trees. You go into subdivisions and you see no trees, you just see houses,” says Staten. “My goal is to build 5 to 10 homes a year. If I do more than that, it won’t allow me to spend time with my kids. I want people to know that I am going to build each home as if I’m moving in it myself. As long as I do it with [that] belief I know I will create a quality product.” – adrienne gadling
