Have you ever found yourself yawning during a workout? If so, you may be bored with your exercise routine or with exercise in general. If you just can’t stick to an exercise regimen, try taking up a sport. The beauty of sports is that it requires quite a bit of physical activity to score or achieve any goal. Sports allow you to exercise without being so cognizant that it’s exercise. When you’re at the gym or health club, your mind is fully aware of where you are and why you are there. However, if you are participating in a sport, your mind can fixate on winning the game, and in so doing enhances rather than hinders your ability to exercise. Below are several sports in which you can use your competitive nature as well as exercise and keep fit.


Tennis – Tennis is harder than it looks. Just learning to hit the ball properly may take some time. However, the speed at which the game is played allows you to get great exercise and increase your stamina. Basketball – Basketball is a team sport and the team that runs together, wins together. The constant movement in basketball coupled with jumping and positioning make for great exercise during the summer. Quickness and stamina are often improved by playing basketball.

Soccer – Although it is not the most popular sport in our country, it is one of the most demanding in terms of fitness. The average soccer player runs miles during the course of one game. Since you can’t use your hands, it forces the rest of your body to get involved.
