Souls for Sale

Selling Point

Everybody wants to sell you something. We even sell to ourselves. Sometimes, we sell ourselves on something that we want to do, or have or be, but oftentimes, we are selling ourselves a bill of goods. And then, when we do finally purchase what we think is our heart’s desire, we discover that we have actually sold ourselves down the river. What are you selling to yourself?

Selling Down the River

Everybody wants to sell you something, but that doesn’t mean you have to buy the goods that are being peddled. When our hearts and minds are broken, we make excuses. Victims of domestic violence confuse being controlled and brutalized with being loved. They tell themselves that they are flawed and that their behavior provokes their mate’s anger. They sell themselves violence as ‘love’ and convince themselves that they deserve every epithet and every crushing blow. They sell themselves on staying in a bad situation despite the threat to sanity, life and limb.

Some people are sold on the status quo. They’re going along to get along and that’s just fine, thank you very much. They’re not progressing in life and that’s OK. They’ve sold themselves on living the life of a lemming. And a fine life it is. Or so they believe, anyway.

Selling Oneself

It’s so easy to buy a pack of lies on the front end of a deal, but the back-end price is enormous. That’s why it’s important to filter sales messages carefully, whether the salesman is internal or external. Don’t allow yourself to get caught so caught up in the message or the messenger that you lose sight of the most important part of the equation: seeking your own truth. Peace.

Peace.
