Blogging has changed how information is disseminated. Over the past five years, thousands of new blog sites have been launched to provide unique commentary on entertainment, politics, sports and religion. As the owner of www.twanatells.com, Twana Tells hopes to add her own flavor to the ever-growing blogosphere. amir shaw
Why did you decide to start Twana Tells?
I started it out of necessity. My background is in radio and I was employed by Clear Channel in Detroit for five years. But due to budget cuts, I lost my job. A few months later, I packed my stuff and came to Atlanta. My plan was to get back in radio. I interviewed with a lot of stations, but I decided to do things on my own. I wanted to create an opportunity that no one could take away.
What steps did you take to get started?
I’ve always been a fan of gossip blogs. I bought my domain and came up with the concept of Twana Tells. The site has been growing ever since. I’ve had over 30,000 hits in less than two months. I reach out to different people from the time I wake up until I go to sleep. I’ve interviewed Angela Basset, Tasha Smith and Young Jeezy. I report on Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, [Sen.] Barack Obama [and] Jay-Z. I try to give people the exclusives.
So what’s next for Twana Tells?
I’m thankful for the opportunity to have a voice. The Internet has become the new media. I’m looking to turn Twana Tells into a magazine and a radio show. My goal is to be a household name and everyone’s favorite gossip girl.
