Author, Mind Hustle
Dr.
Swandria Simpson remembers when her first baby’s crib was a
dresser drawer. Coming up in North Memphis’ notorious Hollywood
neighborhood, Simpson saw firsthand the effects of poverty in the black
community, but she felt there was a better life outside her adverse
environment.
“I watched how other people
lived, and other people didn’t live like I lived, and
didn’t live like the people I saw around me living,”
Simpson says. “So I said there had to be a better way. I knew
that from the very beginning — that there had to be something
different.”
Simpson is now a self-made millionaire and the author of Mind Hustle: The Science of Getting Rich NOW,
which she says is a logical method to attain financial success. Having
read several get-rich quick texts, she recognized that there was still
something not being said.
“I wanted to know what the secret
was, because apparently there had to be some type of [financial] secret
out there,” she says of her rationale for writing the book.
“If it wasn’t a secret, why was everybody else broke and
poor except 2 percent of the population? So, there had to be some rhyme
or reason to it all.”
In
order to quell any skepticism that her book is a scam, Simpson insists
that couldn’t be further from the truth. “I’m not
trying to take people’s money, and I’m not trying to get
people caught up into a business system that works for me, where
you’ve got to buy this book [and] that book,” she says.
“You buy this one book, that’s really all you’ll
need.” – gavin philip godfrey
