Update: Suspect in Hudson murders to stay behind bars

Chicago
–William Balfour, 27, remains behind bars. The Illinois Prisoner
Review Board found enough reason to keep Balfour, the only suspect in
the Hudson murder case, imprisoned for the time being.

The
board found that Balfour, a convicted felon, never attended his court
mandated anger management class. On top of that, they found reason to
believe that Balfour frequently visited known drug areas around the
city. During the review, Balfour’s girlfriend reported to
authorities that she’d seen him carrying a gun that looked like
the 45-caliber handgun believed to be the weapon used for the Darnell
Donerson, Jason Hudson and seven-year-old Julian King murders. It was
found a block away from Jason Hudson’s abandoned white Chevrolet
Suburban.

It’s also been reported that
authorities have questioned a 19-year-old college student in
Mississippi who said she spoke to Balfour over the phone at about 4
a.m. on October 24. The student, who has been indentified as Rashia
Whitlock, said that Balfour claimed he and his associates were
“getting ready for something real big that’s going to go
down tomorrow.”

As of now, Balfour has
not been charged in connection with the killings, but has remained in
custody for the past two weeks. Balfour was transferred to the Illinois
Department of Corrections for violating his parole, stemming from 1999
felony conviction for attempted murder.
