Gabrielle: I’ve always been very outgoing. I talk to anybody about anything. On this job, when you’re away on location for three months, you don’t want to be with somebody you don’t like, who’s rude or dismissive or treats people poorly. Treat people with kindness and dignity if that’s how you want to be treated. Just being a good person has worked way more for me than anything else.

Spirituality: [Spirituality] makes me feel connected with, not only other people, but the world, including nature and energy. If you put out positive energy, you’re going to get back positive energy. We were all created in God’s likeness as good people [but] we sometimes make bad choices. I just try to put out positive work and use my voice for good things. I’ve found that I’ve been getting it back tenfold.

Internet rumors: I’ve never dated Kid Rock or Ludacris or [Ludacris’ manager] Shaka Zulu. The craziest thing I’ve ever read was that I was pregnant. Where did the baby go? A lot of my friends have had these ‘mystery’ babies. [Tabloids] have been chasing Eva Longoria around for I-don’t-know-how-long claiming there’s some secret baby. How do you just give somebody a baby? That’s weird. I just encourage people not to believe everything they read.

Her favorite locales: I love to travel. I just got back from Ghana, [where] we traveled with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I love Egypt; Durban, South Africa; Europe. I’m so open to traveling and meeting new people and exploring new cultures and gaining a world perspective. I’m from Omaha, Neb., but my mom raised us to think outside of our street or our town.

Election Night 2008 and Prop 8: “I was on my couch with one of my best girlfriends, trainer A.J. Johnson. We had started drinking wine and we [decided] we were going to drink out of plastic cups until Barack [Obama] hit 270 [electoral votes.] When he hit 270, we switched to glasses — and the rest got a little fuzzy. We started noticing the results coming in from Prop 8 in California, though, and I was really disappointed [when] I heard so many minorities — especially black folks and Latinos — voted, basically, to legislate discrimination. We should know more than anybody what happens when you legislate discrimination.
