It’s always nice to have choices. For along time, that was not the case in the world of video football games. Then, along comes Blitz: The League game series and now we have choices. If you’re looking for a fun alternative to simulation football, then you need to come over to the dark side and check out Blitz: The League 2. This new edition has cool new features for its next gen console debut. The game offers several modes of play for a quick and dirty game or you can have a more satisfying gaming experience by jumping into the Campaign Mode. Here, players begin as a hotshot rookie trying to navigate the dark corridors and back room dealings of the sports world. Everything about Blitz: … is over the top. You’ve got drugs, hot women, late hits and gut-wrenching, bone-breaking injuries, shown as they happen via an X-ray view. Bones snap, organs burst, it’s all pretty cool. In terms of game play, the field action is more of a nod to arena-style football. A first down is 30 yards, on a shortened football field, so high scoring games are routine. I’ve won several games by only throwing passes and had a ball doing it. Remember folks, this is arcade-style football, it supposed to be fun, not necessarily realistic. Also, check out Frank Caliendo’s Madden impression for the commentary, it is repetitive after a while, but man is it hilarious. So if arcade-style football is what you’re looking for, Blitz: the League 2 is for you. –dark abyss
