Senior Beauty Advisor, Walgreens
We
are well into the holiday season and while you’re planning your
festive holiday wear, don’t forget your skin and hair. Christina
Herndon, senior beauty advisor at Walgreens, has some holiday tips for
customers who are not quite sure which products to use. “I can
offer hair and beauty tips to help customers get through the
holidays,” offers Herndon, who has been with the Walgreens in
Brooklyn, N.Y., for a little over a year. “I recommend perms for
fine and kinky hair. If [customers] come in for an eye shadow
recommendation, I help them to choose one that doesn’t make them
look crazy,” she jokes, adding that her goal is to choose a color
that suits the customer’s complexion.
Herndon,
who was promoted to senior beauty advisor this past summer, asks
customers a series of questions before she endorses any product.
“I ask customers what they have been using before. You
don’t want to recommend products that they may have an allergic
reaction to. Then I can determine what works on their face or in their
hair. I use that information to develop a hair or skin care
regimen,” she says.
“I have a
customer who has oily skin like mine. I recommended a good cleanser and
scrub for her to use,” says Herndon. She suggests products that
range from Clean & Clear skin care to African Pride hair care.
When she isn’t at Walgreens opening on Sundays, Wednesdays and
Thursdays or closing on Mondays and Fridays, Herndon can be found with
her head buried in her books. She’s studying to be a pediatrician
and dreams of helping children around the world. –yvette caslin
