What should up-and-coming producers do to get started in the music industry?
You gotta want it more than anybody else. Your manager, your
girlfriend, your mom — can’t want it more than you …
It’s a rat race and a dogfight because there are so many
producers nowadays.
Did you start off interning at any studios?
I started off at T&S studios. It’s kind of amazing because
most of your stars have recorded or come from that studio — D4L,
Pastor Troy, Rick Ross, Bobby Valentino, Shawty Redd, Block, Boyz N Da
Hood …
Who influences you?
I’m influenced by producers who actually play instruments, who
are composers. I play keys; I had theory classes and stuff.
How would you describe your style?
I consider myself a multi-genre producer. I don’t have any
boundaries. You can put me in a room with anybody in any part of the
world and I’m gonna come out with a hot record.
