Disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says Jesse Jackson Jr. agreed to Pay for Senate Seat

In a grotesque twist to an already-horrific political scandal that has rocked the U.S. government to its core, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich told federal investigators that U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. [D-Ill] was “Senate Candidate 5,” the one who agreed to illegally pay for Barack Obama’s vacant senate seat.


It was no secret in Chicago and political circles that the son of the legendary civil rights leader coveted the ultra-influential seat. However, Jackson categorically and adamantly denies he was willing to “pay to play.” He will meet with federal investigators immediately to exonerate himself from Blagojevich’s accusations that Jackson was willing to meet the governor’s demand to pay at least $1 million to be appointed senator. Blagojevich was charged yesterday by the U.S. Attorney’s office for trying to sell the senate seat, among a laundry list of illegalities.
