“So many thoughts ran through my mind and I thought that maybe I don’t need to do this again…”
After
the personal tragedy that altered her life forever, multiplatinum
R&B star Brandy seriously considered walking away from her career.
Having endured a decade and a half of public and media scrutiny and
with her tenure at Atlantic records at an end, she could’ve
called it quits. But, Brandy is no quitter; and her latest album,
Human, is proof positive that she couldn’t give up on what she
feels she was ‘born to do.’ She has strong reasons for
returning to recording:
5. A New Beginning:
“I thought I wouldn’t find a place that believed in me as
much as [former label] Atlantic did. But I was obviously wrong because
Epic has that same belief and support that Atlantic had. Epic gave me a
second chance to fulfill my dreams.”
4. President-Elect Obama:
“I’m just so happy for him and I’m so happy for our
world right now. There’s so much hope. If we all stay focused on
staying positive and doing our work we can fulfill that dream of this
world being a better place.”
3. Fans:
“I want to be an inspiration to everyone who hears my music. My
perspective on life has changed and I want everything I do to have
meaning and purpose.”
2. Sy’rai:
“My daughter, she is my inspiration. She lets me know that
it’s okay to make mistakes and be human about who you are. You
learn that being a mom. She’s taught me so much patience and
she’s amazing.”
1. Brandy:
“I do what I do because I was born to do it. This is what I know
how to do. This is my gift and I feel like if I don’t share it,
it’s not really a gift. When I wasn’t doing music, I felt
unfulfilled. This is who I am.”
