Myka 9’s rap style is a deep-voiced, dense flow, something which utterly sets his music apart from the rest. The old-school cofounder of the group Freestyle Fellowship is nostalgic about the past and shows other emotions on a hip-hop joint that presents the funk of “Monte Carlo” alongside the jazz fusion of “Options.” The title track is a psychedelia-influenced cluster of references to the year of Myka’s birth jamming names such as Janis Joplin next to Monty Python’s. Way cool.
