The Adamsville section of Atlanta was electrified by Gospel great Ann Nesby and an appearance by Mayor Shirley Franklin as Jackson Memorial Baptist Church celebrated Soulful Celebrations before a packed auditorium.
Nesby, considered the Queen of Inspirational Soul, anchored by a 100-voice choir, provided a riveting and roof-rattling performance during the Christmas holiday season and helped to dissolve widespread anxiety during these precarious economic times in America.
“It’s a wonderful event here at Jackson Memorial Baptist church and outreach. The Adamsville Business and Community Partnership and GWWA sponsored this program to benefit community so that we can have programs in the future in this particular community, the Adamsville community. We are so excited.”
Franklin, who briefly addressed the crowd and regaled the church community with tales of her children and grandchildren, said the program buoyed the souls and spirits of all who attended. “It was really uplifting. This Soulful Gospel Celebration . It was a way to start the Christmas holiday [and] see all the talent in the community. And to have the doors open by Rev. Sutton – it was a wonderful event.”
The program was also a way for worshippers to lay heir cares at the pulpit of the church and become engulfed in a supernatural sense of serenity despite a typhoon of negative news swirling and thrashing about the nation and the world. “There is a blessing in a recession,” Sutton reminded. “We are in a recession, but we don’t know anything about it. God has been good to us. We have always survived. And we are going to survive now, and we just thank God for what God is getting ready to do.” –terry shropshire
