Syndicated radio personality and comedian Steve Harvey teamed up with Disney to present 100 lucky teens with a cultural weekend complete with motivational speaking, career coaching and fun at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. The Disney’s Dreamers Academy inaugural class met with some of the industry’s hottest entertainers including Keyshia Cole; Nuttin’ But Stringz; Tichina Arnold; and Victoria Rowell as well as ESPN.com’s Jemele Hill, the sports authority’s first black female sports journalist; and sports agent Greg Nared, former representative for Tiger Woods and Michelle Wie.

The commencement address was given by the nation’s first black billionaire, BET founder and owner of the Charlotte Bobcats team, Bob Johnson. The Mississippi native shares, “You have to dream about the possibility of what you can become and what you can do. When you dream, it starts with one ingredient, and that is an absolute fundamental belief in yourself. ”


The academy was strategically scheduled to take place during the birthday weekend of our most revered dreamer, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – yvette caslin
